YOJ Week 30 - Lucy in the Sky (with Swarovski's)

Yes, I know. Epic fail. Could be a serious contender in the "show us you ugliest" competition. The only thing I like is the name.

The idea was to see if I could use crystal clay to layer 2 copper cuffs together and bling the top a bit by punching holes and inserting Swarovski chatons into the clay.

Guess I'll be crossing "crystal clay" of my list of jewelry making materials....

  1. Actually, It's not that bad... I kind of like it... I'd like to see how those crystals pop off of the copper color instead of the green... I think you should experiment with this more... :)

  2. It's not as ugly as you think. And, you know the old saying about "one (wo)man's trash is another (wo)man's treasure." Don't give up. I came up with a saying the other day (that my family laughed at but I love!) "Mistakes are just ideas with ideas of their own." Your "mistake" had it's own ideas. Really. Don't give up. It may not be what you wanted but it may be what someone else wants!

  3. I don't think you should give up on it. I think it looks okay and I think it has potential. As Karen said, I think you should experiment with it some more.

  4. Eva, I do not see a mistake I really like it. I don't think you should give up on your idea so fast experiment some more. If Thomas Edison gave up on the first try we would not have light bulbs to light our way. Well yeah we would, but you get my drift. ;-)

  5. What about copper crystals against the blue?

  6. I hate to disagree. I really do, but I really can't see where that is a fail. I'd add a few more crystals to the wave, but the idea just doesn't suck as much as you seem to think it does..

  7. I like it too, and don't understand what didn't work. I use a lot of resin clay,if you'd like I can come over and see if I can help.

  10. Thanks friends for your encouraging words, but trust me, the piece really is ugly. I don't know if the pic does justice to it's magnificent ugliness, so I'm sending it to a friend for an unbiased review in real life and will post it here. But if anyone wants to stop in at my shop today and take a look before I send it, I'd love another unvarnished opinion. But on a positive note, the technique has possibilities and adding swars to ANYTHING is an improvement, IMHO... :-)

  12. So I'm way late jumping in on this...but this bracelet was pretty enough to make me click on it while looking up projects ideas for Crystal Clay. I have only clicked on one other image while in my search. I think this is a cool idea and I'd love to see additional ideas you have for Crystal Clay. And I'm not just saying that because I'm totally stuck on what to create. lol
